Mapping with the golden ratio
Eyebrow mapping at Salon CoCo BOND Spa begins with measurement of facial landmarks to find the most flattering proportions using the golden ratio principle. The mapping process identifies where the brow should start, arch and end relative to your facial features. Enough substantial brow hair is required for mapping to be effective; if hair is sparse, we will discuss alternatives.
Mapping is a planning tool rather than a final shape: it establishes the guide that we use for waxing and tinting. It balances objective proportions with your personal preferences — arch height, thickness, and overall look — and helps ensure the finished shape works with event plans like shows at the Count Basie Center.
Waxing and hair removal
Once the mapped shape is agreed, hair removal follows the mapped lines to refine the brows. Certain medications and recent procedures prevent safe hair removal: if you are using Retin A, Accutane, Avage, Tazorac, Differin or other exfoliating/skin‑compromising prescriptions, or have had recent laser, plastic surgery, or sunburn, we cannot perform waxing. A consultation will confirm safety before service.
For best waxing results, hair length matters: at least two weeks of growth, approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch, allows the wax to catch hairs cleanly. Prepare skin by exfoliating and moisturizing routinely, but avoid exfoliation within 24 hours prior to your appointment to reduce irritation risks.
Tinting and final shaping
Tinting is applied after shaping to add definition and enhance color contrast between brows and skin or hair. The tint shade is customized to complement your natural coloring. Local climate can influence maintenance — humid summers or frequent sun exposure may change how the tint and daily styling settle over time — so we discuss upkeep during the appointment.
After your service we review simple aftercare and scheduling for touch-ups. Maintenance frequency depends on individual hair growth and personal routines; we’ll recommend follow-up timing that fits busy commute and family schedules. If you choose the full service, expect a focused 45 MINUTES to complete mapping, waxing and tinting.
